Bark & Gravel Application in Salem, Keizer & Turner
Bark breaks down over time, so most beds need a top-up every year or two. Laid two to three inches deep, it shades out weed seeds, holds moisture through dry Valley summers and protects roots in winter. We weed and edge the beds first so the new layer goes down clean.
For paths, side yards and drainage areas we install gravel over landscape fabric where it makes sense. We can help you pick a bark color (dark hemlock, fir, red) or gravel size that fits the look of your property.
What's included
- Beds weeded and edged before install
- Bark laid 2 to 3 inches deep
- Gravel for paths, side yards and drainage
- Landscape fabric where it helps
- Clean-up of walks and lawn edges
When to schedule it
In the Mid-Willamette Valley we typically schedule this in March, April, May, October.
Frequently asked questions
How much bark do I need?
Plan on about one cubic yard of bark for every 100 to 150 square feet at a 2 to 3 inch depth. We measure and quote exact amounts during the estimate.
When should bark go down?
Spring is ideal because it locks in moisture before summer and stops weeds before they start. A fall application also protects roots through winter.
