Mowing & Trimming in Salem, Keizer & Turner
Valley lawns are mostly cool-season grasses like perennial ryegrass and fine fescue. They grow hard in spring and do best mowed high, around 2.5 to 3.5 inches, so the grass shades its own roots and holds moisture into summer. We set deck height by season, keep blades sharp to avoid torn tips, and never take off more than about a third of the blade at once.
Every mow includes string trimming around fences, beds and trees, hard edging along concrete, and blowing clippings off driveways, patios and walks.

Frequently asked questions
When does mowing season start in the Salem area?
Most lawns need their first cut in March and steady mowing from April through October. A warm, wet fall can keep grass growing into November.
Do you bag clippings?
We mulch-mow by default because returned clippings feed the lawn. During heavy spring growth or on request we bag and haul them off.
