Tree, Shrub & Flower Pruning in Salem, Keizer & Turner
Pruning timing depends on the plant. Most deciduous shrubs and small trees are pruned in late winter while dormant. Spring bloomers like rhododendrons, azaleas and lilacs are pruned right after they flower so you don't cut off next year's buds. Hedges such as laurel and arborvitae get shaped in early summer and again later in the season.
We remove dead, crossing and diseased wood, open up plants for air flow (which matters in our damp climate), and shape hedges cleanly. Roses get a hard prune in late winter and deadheading through summer.

Frequently asked questions
When should I prune my rhododendrons?
Right after they finish blooming in late spring. Pruning in fall or winter removes the buds that would flower next year.
Do you prune large trees?
We prune small and ornamental trees up to ladder height. For large trees that need climbing or a bucket truck, we can point you to a certified arborist.
